Habits and the month grid

A monthly habit tracker helps you build small daily habits — reading, exercise, meditation, water intake, language practice — without an app. The 31-day grid makes streaks and gaps visible at a glance, which is what keeps a habit going.

  • Add 5–10 habits at most — more becomes hard to maintain.
  • Pick the exact month and year you want to track.
  • Portrait fits the 15 habit rows in a taller column; landscape gives each day column more horizontal room.

Configured examples

  • Daily reading or language-learning streak.
  • Exercise and stretching log alongside a workout plan.
  • Hydration tracker where you tick the day when the water goal is met.
  • Sleep- and wake-time consistency tracker.
  • Screen-time and focus check-ins for digital detox months.
  • Classroom or family chart for small recurring tasks.

Fill in first or print blank

  • A personal motivation tool — not medical, therapeutic or behavioural advice.

Limits of this sheet

  • Counts are self-tracking, not diagnostic measurements.

Print output

  • Print at Actual size so the tick boxes stay square.
  • Portrait is the default; landscape when you want wider day columns for larger ticks.
  • Use Normal print quality so the tick-box borders are easy to see.

What usually goes wrong

  • Tracking too many habits at once — three to five visible rows is the sweet spot.
  • Picking vague habits like 'be healthier' that you cannot tick off in a single yes/no decision.
  • Treating a missed day as failure — a tracker is data, not a verdict.
  • Printing a new sheet every month with no review of what worked the month before.
  • Hiding the tracker in a drawer — keep it where you actually see it every day.
