Rows and columns

An attendance sheet works for small classes, after-school clubs, sports teams, training courses, volunteer groups and study circles. The grid of name rows and date columns gives a quick monthly overview of who showed up when, without needing a database or an app.

• Enter the class or group name and pick the month before downloading.
• Landscape orientation fits a full month of date columns without squashing names.
• Print one sheet per month and store them together in a binder.
• For digital fill-in use, select the P / A / L / E legend. The codes stay the same in every language so the printable remains easy to read: P = Present, A = Absent, L = Late, E = Excused. Click a day cell repeatedly to cycle through empty → P → A → L → E → empty. The marks appear in the preview, PDF download and print output. Use Blank printable mode if you want to mark attendance by hand after printing.

Print output

• Print at Actual size so the grid stays even and the day cells line up.
• Landscape on A4 or US Letter usually fits 20–25 name rows.
• Use Normal print quality — toner-save can wash out the grid lines.

What usually goes wrong

• Confusing the legend — Present, Absent, Late, Excused — by mixing in custom codes mid-term.
• Printing names that identify minors more than necessary; first name + last initial is often enough.
• Treating the sheet as an official record — for legal or audit attendance, use the system your school or HR provides.
• Choosing portrait when the group has many days to track — landscape fits more day columns cleanly.
• Leaving the date columns blank and discovering later that two rows can refer to the same week.
